The editorial board of the Extreme Psychology and Personal Security journal invites specialists to contribute to a thematic issue titled "High-Stress Professions", scheduled for publication in September 2025.

This issue addresses a pressing societal challenge—the search for theoretical foundations, resources, methods, and technologies to support professional activities and safeguard the well-being of individuals in high-stress professions. These include:

  • Professions that grant early retirement benefits based on years of service or accumulated work experience;
  • High-risk professions;
  • Occupations officially recognized as hazardous;
  • And other related fields.

The issue will feature reviews of advancements in Russian and international psychology, analyses of applied and empirical research on stress factors in various professions, the impact of challenging and extreme situations on professional activity, and methods for preventing and mitigating stress-related effects on professionals.

Additionally, the issue will present findings from the research project "Factors of Professional Longevity in High-Stress Professions", funded by the Russian Science Foundation (Project No. 25-18-00109).

Objective

The goal of this issue is to provide scientific and practical insights into professional support for individuals in high-stress professions, covering the period from vocational training to post-retirement employment. The issue will showcase various approaches from Russian researchers, including diagnostics, intervention strategies, and targeted psychological support for professionals in high-stress fields.

The thematic editor for this issue is Tatiana Nikolaevna Berezina.
