The next (sixth) part of the Workbook for Counselors of the Children's Helpline has been published. The methodological manual "Workbook of a Children's Helpline Counselor: A Comprehensive Analysis of Complex Cases in Helpline Practice," prepared by order of the Foundation for Supporting Children in Difficult Life Situations, is intended for counselors who provide psychological assistance and support to children and parents as part of the All-Russian project "Children's Helpline."
This publication is the result of many years of analytical work and accumulated practical experience by specialists from Moscow State University of Psychology and Education (MSUPE), who train specialists for regional children's helpline services and also consult callers directly.
"The distinctive feature of this methodological manual," says the author of the manual, Anna Ermolaeva, Deputy Head of the Federal Coordination Center for Ensuring the Development of Psychological and Pedagogical Assistance in the Education System of the Russian Federation (FCC MSUPE), "lies in integrating theoretical concepts of crisis counseling with practical work tools, presented through the prism of real cases. The manual is based on the many years of experience of specialists from the emergency psychological assistance service, systematized and structured in accordance with current crisis intervention protocols. Each case is accompanied by a detailed analysis of the techniques used, therapeutic interventions, and speech modules, which allows the counselor not only to understand the methodological basis of the work but also to acquire specific tools for building an effective dialogue with virtually any caller."
According to federal experts, the presented material significantly contributes to the integration of professional competencies into the practical activities of specialists from regional services working on the unified all-Russian children's helpline numbers 8-800-2000-122 and 124 (from mobile phones). "The work of a children's helpline counselor is associated with many difficulties and emotional stress. The training of specialists and their professional development play a key role in providing quality psychological assistance to children and adolescents. This manual is an excellent example of systematization and visual presentation of the knowledge and practical skills necessary for providing effective psychological assistance to callers, including those in crisis situations," emphasizes Andrei Kamin, President of the Russian Association of Emergency Psychological Help Lines and lecturer at the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of Distance Learning, Faculty of Distance Learning, MSUPE.
