The editorial board of the journal Cultural-Historical Psychology (Kulturno-Istoricheskaya Psikhologiya) invites submissions for a special issue (No. 1, 2026) titled "Cultural-Historical Psychology: A Modern Dialogue of Approaches, Russia – South Africa." The issue will be co-edited by V.V. Rubtsov (Russia) and J. Hardman (South Africa).
This special issue inaugurates a new regional series for the journal, focused on the development of cultural-historical psychology across different countries. The series aims to showcase how the approach's conceptual and methodological foundations are interpreted and adapted within diverse scientific, educational, and psychological support contexts.
This Russia–South Africa dialogue seeks to identify both the enduring conceptual core of the cultural-historical approach and its emerging trajectories within contemporary society. We welcome a range of submissions, including: theoretical articles that refine core principles; empirical studies demonstrating the approach's application in education, clinical, and social practice; analyses of the distinct South African experience; and comparative studies. Materials for the special issue will be grouped into two main areas:
Theoretical and Methodological Foundations of Cultural-Historical Psychology
Contemporary Experimental Research and Practices
Materials for this special issue should be submitted by February 1, 2026. Manuscripts are to be submitted through the journal's standard article submission system, with a note indicating that the material is intended for the special issue "Russia – South Africa." Detailed information on manuscript preparation and submission guidelines is available on the "Submission of Manuscripts to Scientific Journals of MSUPE Publishing House" page on the PsyJournals.ru portal.
