The Journal "Language and Text": On Methods for Evaluating Suggestive Potential and Sociocultural Transformations in Chinese Youth Slang

The fourth issue of the international scientific journal "Language and Text" (Yazyk i Tekst) for 2025 has been published. This issue is dedicated to contemporary research in linguistics, textology, and language pedagogy, covering both theoretical and practical aspects of studying language, its history, transformations, and intercultural features. The guest editor for this issue is Zemfira Zulfugarovna Iskhakova, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor at the Department of Public Relations and Media Policy, Faculty of Journalism, Institute of Public Administration and Management, RANEPA under the President of the Russian Federation.

The "General and Comparative-Historical Linguistics" section opens with an article by R.A. Gelasimov, "From Implicature to Explicature: The Pragmatics of Understatement as a Key to Translating the Concept of 'Contempt' in A. Moravia's Novel of the Same Name." This work examines the cognitive-pragmatic mechanisms of goal-setting in speech activity and the role of implicatures in conveying complex psychological concepts. S.V. Ivanova and N.B. Mukhina investigate the dynamics of a speaker's goals during speech interaction. A.V. Ignatenko and A.V. Koryagin dedicated their article to studying Chinese youth slang as an indicator of sociocultural transformations. N.V. Loginova analyzes mechanisms for verbalizing nationally specific concepts in the language of the Russian media space. The article by A. Loreti and E. Mettini explores the evolution of the Italian language and new criteria for assessing language competence in the digital era. Z.Z. Chanysheva analyzes the interpretation of the cultural semantics of lexical units. The article by Ya.A.-B. Shankhoeva is devoted to the study of temporal and locative syntagms in internet advertising.

The "World Literature. Textology" section includes articles that examine the language of literary text as a means of expressing cultural, philosophical, and aesthetic concepts. V.A. Galstyan studies the role of alogisms in the poetics of Osip Mandelstam. S.M. Kapilupi in her article explores the image of Giuseppe Mazzini in the Russian intellectual tradition of the 19th century. A.N. Kovalenko and I.A. Shilova conduct a textological analysis of the memory of the miracles of the right hand of John the Baptist in Old Russian Prologues. N.A. Nikonov considers the influence of "The Ladder" on Old Russian hagiography. S.A. Simonova compares the theatrical reforms of Luigi Pirandello and Antonin Artaud.

The concluding section, "Language Pedagogy and Innovations. Psychological Foundations of Studying Languages and Cultures," contains works aimed at developing the methodological base of modern language education: R.V. Agadzhanyan and E.V. Yakovleva analyze non-verbal codes and zoo-symbolism in the image of a politician. S.V. Bagmanova investigates modern approaches to using transcription in foreign language teaching. N.N. Orekhova examines the development of all types of speech activity in textbooks of Russian as a foreign language for students in construction specialties. The article by T.M. Rogozhnikova presents new methods for evaluating the suggestive potential of verbal models.
