On April 6 at 6:30 PM, an online seminar titled "Digital Socialization and the Role of Fandoms in the Personality Development of Modern Youth" will be held at the Department of Theoretical Foundations of Social Psychology, Faculty of Social Psychology, MSUPE. The meeting is part of the faculty's seminar series "The Individual and the Group in Real and Virtual Spaces of Interaction."

Digital socialization is not merely a transfer of traditional social practices into the online environment, but a qualitatively new mechanism of personality formation. The modern digital environment acts simultaneously as both a tool and a space for socialization. On the one hand, it provides enormous opportunities for learning, access to information, and global communication. On the other hand, it creates risks of desocialization, provoking internet addiction, aggressive online behavior, and various forms of digital social deviations.
In modern society, closely intertwined with the internet, online activity and interaction have long become the norm for youth and adolescents. On the internet, they communicate, make friends, and spend their leisure time, which is often associated with a relatively new phenomenon such as fandom.
The seminar proposes to discuss the following questions:
- What is "digital socialization"?
- How has the concept of digital socialization evolved, and what are the significant concepts?
- How is digital socialization connected to fandom?
- What does the concept of "digital identity" include?
- What are the positive and negative functions of fandoms?
