We are pleased to present the second issue of the journal "Social Sciences and Childhood" for 2025 (No. 2). This issue brings together articles addressing key issues in psychology, pedagogy, and social work related to childhood.

The section "Pedagogy and Psychology of Education" features an article by Yu.A. Khan (Astana, Kazakhstan) dedicated to the psychological literacy of parents of preschoolers in an information-saturated environment. The author identifies differences in the awareness and needs of Russian-speaking and Kazakh-speaking parents, emphasizing the necessity of creating an accessible, professionally supported family support system.

The section "Developmental Psychology" includes work by Yu.A. Kochetova, M.V. Klimakova, and E.A. Emelyanova (Moscow, Russia), in which the authors focus on psychological trauma during different periods of childhood. They examine in detail the mechanisms and consequences of traumatization in relation to the child's age, highlighting its impact on emotional and cognitive development.

The section "Social Psychology" presents research by E.I. Nikolaeva, E.A. Dydenkova, and G.V. Semya (St. Petersburg, Moscow, Russia) dedicated to the psychophysiological foundations of raising children without parental care. The authors compare the characteristics of biological and substitute mothers, emphasizing differences in executive function and the risk of emotional burnout.

Another publication in this section is by T.D. Suyundukova (Ufa, Russia). Her work examines the socio-psychological profile of candidates for substitute parents, revealing how motivation and personal characteristics depend on the chosen form of family placement.

This issue aims to broaden the understanding of current childhood problems and to offer effective tools for optimizing educational and preventive measures. We hope the journal's materials will prove useful for researchers, practitioners, and all those interested in promoting the full development of children.

The journal issue is published in open access on the portal of psychological publications PsyJournals.ru.
