Third-year students from the Faculty of Information Technology at MSUPE, future film and television directors, gathered in a hall of the Tretyakov Gallery for an unusual art seminar held within the exhibition space dedicated to the book graphics of May Petrovich Miturich-Khlebnikov.
The exhibition is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the great illustrator and painter. Children of many generations have imagined the characters from their favorite books by Agniya Barto, Korney Chukovsky, Gennady Snegirev, and Rudyard Kipling exactly as May Petrovich drew them. The world of his drawings is dynamic and bright. Yet, to this day, there is not a single animated film created in the aesthetic of this animalist artist. Why?
It was this very question that the future multimedia directors pondered. Their task was to create storyboards based on the illustrations and to imagine the characters within the modern context of digital animation.
The students watched and discussed the film installation "May Miturich-Khlebnikov. Trajectories of Space" by our university's graduate, director Dmitry Volgin, shot based on a script by MSUPE associate professor Elena Ermakova. The film was shown non-stop at the exhibition.
