High School Students Undertake Scientific-Experimental Biology Courses at MSUPE
February 19, 2026
From February 2 to March 27, MSUPE is hosting scientific-experimental biology courses for students in grades 9–11, organized jointly with the project "In the Center of Science" (V Tsentre Nauki).
During the sessions, school students try their hand at being real scientists and learn to write serious scientific papers. Last week, the participants carried out two laboratory works at once.
- The first work was dedicated to auxins – plant growth hormones. Participants investigated what concentration of these substances is optimal for germinating legume seeds. Finding that "sweet spot" proved to be quite a challenge!
- The second laboratory work turned into a real detective story: the students learned to detect microplastics in water using an ordinary light microscope. It turned out that even without complex equipment, you can see what is hidden from the naked eye, provided you prepare the sample correctly.
More details about the scientific-experimental courses are available on the project's website.
