On May 15, students of the Faculty of Clinical and Special Psychology at MSUPE took part in the excursion program "History of Heroes," organized jointly with the Museum of Heroism (VDNKh, Pavilion 59 "Grain") and the "Innovator Initiatives" Creative Author's Community. The program was aimed at fostering patriotic feelings and the comprehensive development of future educators and psychologists.

Participating from MSUPE in the program were: Yulia Alexandrovna Trukhanova, Associate Professor at the Department of Special (Defectological) Education, and Natalya Sergeevna Lykova, Deputy Dean for Extracurricular Work, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Special Psychology and Rehabilitation.

As part of the excursion program, a meeting was held with the sculptor S.A. Shcherbakov, a People's Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, and Professor. Salavat Alexandrovich works in the genre of monumental and easel sculpture in a classical realistic style. He has created more than 40 monumental art objects.

Most of the sculptor's works are located in Moscow. Among them are monuments to pilot Valentina Grizodubova (2000) , the first Minister of Railways of the Russian Empire Pavel Melnikov (2003) , internationalist soldiers (2004) , and Nikolay Sklifosovsky (2018) . An exhibition of Salavat Shcherbakov's works, "Heroes in Stone and Bronze," is taking place at the Museum of Heroism at VDNKh.

Salavat Alexandrovich shared with the excursion participants his vision of the role of a creative person in modern society, spoke about his creative journey and plans. The students asked Salavat Alexandrovich questions about his work, leading to lively and creative interaction with the audience.

The future educational psychologists received a parting message from Salavat Alexandrovich: to find their life's work and follow it for the benefit of their Homeland.

In the second part of the program, poems and songs dedicated to the Homeland and its heroes were performed. The excursion participants attended the play "Unforgotten Letters" by the youth creative group "Zygma," dedicated to the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. The concert program was organized by the "Innovator Initiatives" Creative Author's Community. In addition to the children's group, the program featured singer, composer, and songwriter Marina Volkova-Shishkova and singer, songwriter, and performer Anna Zarova. The creative program sparked lively interest and engagement from all spectators.

The students participating in the excursion program were emotionally involved in the conversation with the sculptor, empathized with the characters in the play, supported the singers, and as a result, learned a great deal about patriotic education, which is also important for the professional development of a future educator.

The personal experiences of the students, cultivating their love for their Homeland and awareness of the importance of traditional values in their own lives, will undoubtedly allow them, through their own example, to enrich the experiences of those they will teach and mentor.
