PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The program aims at competencies, knowledge and skills in defectology. The unique feature of the program is the division of students into training profiles in the second year of study. Among the training profiles:
  • speech therapy – a specialist (speech teacher) working with persons with speech disorders;
  • pedagogical support for children with learning difficulties – a specialist (teacher-defectologist) working with children with mental retardation and mentally retarded children, with different groups of schoolchildren experiencing learning difficulties.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The educational process is focused on the formation of competencies fixed in the Federal State Educational Standard of 44.03.03 Special (Defectological) Education, as well as on obtaining theoretical knowledge and basic practical skills in the field of special pedagogy and special psychology. Graduates are able to work with children and adolescents with various forms of impaired development of sensory systems and intelligence, as well as with their families (diagnostic, counseling, family support, etc.)

CAREER AND FURTHER STUDY OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates can work in educational organizations that provide training in basic and modified educational programs and institutions of social assistance to the population, in the healthcare system. Graduates can also work in private practice, providing pedagogical services to children and adolescents with disabilities. Area of professional activity: education of persons (children and adolescents) with disabilities in educational, social and health organizations. Graduates have the opportunity to continue their studies in the master’s program in any program of special (defectological) education and psychological and pedagogical education.
