On October 24, the 2nd Conference on Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia of the "Alzrus" Foundation will be held at the "Blagosfera" public center. The event will bring together leading specialists from allied countries and Russian regions: neurologists, psychiatrists, geriatricians, researchers, and practitioners.

Among the key events of the program is the report "Cognitive Stimulation Therapy in the Practice of Working with Older People with Dementia: Results of the Implementation of the MSUPE – 'Alzrus' Partnership Model".

The report will be presented by Elza Fidayevna Shakirova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the Scientific and Practical Center for Gerontopsychology at MSUPE, Associate Professor at the Department of Social Communication and Youth Work Organization, and Elena Nikolaevna Zadorina, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Deputy Head for Practical Work of the Scientific and Practical Center for Gerontopsychology at MSUPE.

The partnership model of MSUPE and the "Alzrus" Foundation is a vivid example of how the university's scientific developments find practical application in real assistance to people with dementia and their loved ones. Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) , which forms the basis of the model, is recognized as an internationally effective approach that allows slowing the decline of cognitive functions and improving the quality of life of the entire family. The results presented at the conference are not only an academic achievement but also a real contribution to solving one of the most acute social problems of our time.

According to WHO data, today more than 55 million people worldwide live with dementia, and by 2050 their number may reach 139 million. In Russia, Alzheimer's disease has been diagnosed in 1.8 million people. In these conditions, the systematic work of the "Alzrus" Foundation, which has been providing assistance to people with dementia for 7 years, and the scientific potential of MSUPE create that very synergy that allows changing the situation already today.

The conference will be of interest to specialists in the social sphere, medical professionals, researchers, representatives of NGOs, and everyone who cares for loved ones with dementia.

Come to become part of a large and important event — together we make the lives of people with dementia and their loved ones more dignified and better.
