Rector of MSUPE: The University's High Positions in the RAEX Ranking Reflect a Systematic Approach to the Quality of Educational Organization
The media portal "Russian Education" of the Russian Ministry of Education published an expert commentary by the Rector of Moscow State University of Psychology and Education (MSUPE), Arkady Margolis.
The Rector of MSUPE emphasized that the inclusion of a pedagogical university in the RAEX ranking reflects a systematic approach to the quality of educational organization. According to the ranking results, MSUPE entered the top three leaders in the field of "Pedagogical Education" among pedagogical universities subordinate to the Russian Ministry of Education and took 11th place among all universities in the country. The Rector of MSUPE explained to the media portal "Russian Education" why a pedagogical university today occupies high positions among higher education institutions.
"The high positions of MSUPE in the RAEX ranking reflect a systematic approach to the quality of educational organization: practice-oriented educational programs, a modular learning principle, and its own clinical training bases. MSUPE was founded on the best traditions of Russian psychological science, whose founder was Lev Semyonovich Vygotsky – the 130th anniversary of whose birth will be celebrated this autumn. At the same time, MSUPE is a relatively young state university; this year it turns 30, which makes the ranking results especially important",
noted Arkady Margolis.
The Rector of MSUPE believes that the ranking results also depend on the university's research activities.
"Thanks to the active support of the Russian Ministry of Education, MSUPE is implementing a number of research projects, the results of which are regularly published. The university is the largest publisher of scientific psychology journals in Russia. Today, the PsyJournals.ru portal is a database of scientific and scientific-practical periodicals in all branches of psychology and related sciences. The core of the portal consists of 15 scientific journals with a full archival collection of articles spanning over 30 years of the university's existence. Thanks to its active scientific and publishing work, MSUPE asserts its leadership positions in the field of psychological science in Russia",

According to the Rector, the high level of graduate training also influences the results in various rankings.
"Our university is one of the leaders in launching the activities of demonstration exam centers, established in all pedagogical universities subordinate to the Russian Ministry of Education. Currently, 100% of full-time undergraduate students in the 'Education and Pedagogical Sciences' UGSN (enlarged groups of specialties and fields) undergo interim and state final certification in the form of a professional (demonstration) exam. The results of the demonstration exam make it possible to objectively assess the level of graduates' readiness for independent professional activity",
explained Arkady Margolis.
The Rector of MSUPE added that in 2025, the pedagogical university entered the Russian version of the BRICS university ranking, which featured four pedagogical universities subordinate to the Russian Ministry of Education. He reported that the university implements educational programs that meet global standards of psychological and pedagogical education. Twenty-three programs have successfully passed international professional-public accreditation, and four have received professional-public accreditation from the Education Quality Assessment Agency of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.
"The university's high performance in rankings and recognition in the international academic environment are direct evidence of the university's fruitful work with the active support of the Russian Ministry of Education",

Recall that earlier the largest Russian ranking agency, RAEX, published subject rankings of universities for 2026.
