Years of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of education have been launched

The opening ceremony of the Years of Russian-Chinese Cooperation in Education took place in Beijing on May 20. The event was attended by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.

As Vladimir Putin stressed, this is the tenth interstate cross-border project implemented by Russia and China, which is traditionally dedicated to one of the integral parts of the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

"Both Russia and China are well aware that high-quality education forms the basis for the development of individuals and the whole society, for self–realization and professional growth of people, otherwise economic progress is unthinkable, it is impossible to create a truly cohesive, strong and truly sovereign state", the Russian President said.

The Head of the Russian state also noted the great interest in learning Russian, which is taught in more than 200 universities and 125 schools in China, and over 66,000 Chinese students are enrolled in language courses in Russia. In turn, the number of Russian citizens studying Chinese is growing from year to year, and now there are more than 100,000 people, and another 20,000 Russians are learning it as part of educational programs in the People's Republic of China.

Vladimir Putin said that the program of the Years of Education is rich and diverse, including hundreds of projects in the field of higher, secondary vocational and school education. According to him, joint events are planned between relevant departments, leading educational institutions and public organizations of the two countries, covering the entire spectrum of Russian-Chinese academic and scientific cooperation. A series of conferences and seminars for teachers, competitive competitions and summer schools for students in Russia and China are planned, with special attention being paid to breakthrough academic disciplines related to the introduction of innovative technologies and aimed at creating joint laboratories and advanced centers in high-tech areas.

President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping emphasized that education is an important bridge connecting people's hearts and transmitting friendship between countries. According to him, the scale of bilateral student exchange is steadily expanding, interuniversity cooperation is consistently developing, and coordination within research platforms and alliance mechanisms is being strengthened.

Xi Jinping drew attention to the importance of deepening cooperation in the field of personnel training, as well as the need to promote close cooperation between higher education institutions and research institutions of the two countries, jointly train a team of world-class specialists, strengthen the country's strategically important research potential, and join forces to overcome the most complex scientific challenges to promote innovative development. both countries.

Earlier, representatives of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China and the university's leadership met in the main building of the Moscow State Psychological and Pedagogical University (MSUPE) on Sretenka with the active participation of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

Also on May 16, representatives of the Moscow State University of Economics took part in the Forum of Sino-Russian Cooperation in the field of higher education.
