Psychological Counseling for Religious Clients: Seminar at the Department of Ethnopsychology – February 13

On February 13 at 18:00, an online meeting will be held as part of the scientific-methodological seminar "Multicultural Approach in Psychological Counseling". The event is organized by the Department of Ethnopsychology and Psychological Issues of Multicultural Education at the Faculty of Social Psychology of MSUPE.

Seminar Topic: Psychological Counseling for Religious Clients Speakers:
  • Anzhelika Pavlovna Mersiyanova – Supervisor, trainer at the Society of Practicing Psychologists "Gestalt Approach", and lead trainer for Gestalt therapist training programs.
  • Filyus Fliurovich Yakhin – Candidate of Legal Sciences, psychologist, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Association for Psychological Assistance to Muslims, and head of the Bashkortostan branch of the APAM.

A.P. Mersiyanova will discuss how a psychologist’s own religiosity can influence counseling and therapy. She will discuss how it manifests, affects the therapeutic process, and impacts professional decision-making.

F.F. Yakhin will address the integration of Islamic values into psychological counseling for Muslim clients. He will discuss how religious beliefs shape clients' perceptions of therapy and the need to adapt methods accordingly. The talk will also cover therapeutic models suitable for working with Muslim clients and integrative approaches from Islamic psychology.
