You are invited to attend the public lecture "Ethnocultural Prototypes of Psychological Assistance: Rites of Passage" on December 1 at 11:00 AM.

Throughout life, every person goes through a series of stages and repeatedly transitions from one state to another. Such a sequence, formalized into a system of obligatory rituals, exists in all societies, regardless of their traditions or level of economic and political development.

Rites of passage accompany individuals and help them navigate all important status-changing stages: birth, education, professional activity, marriage, the birth and upbringing of children, and death.

In traditional cultures, such rites of passage are defined in time and social context, with established scripts. In modern conditions, due to migration and cultural exchange, a single system of rituals for everyone is impossible, and the supportive role of traditional scripts is diminishing or even disappearing. New variations of rituals are often unstable and require constant rectification.

Nevertheless, by examining the structure of rites of passage and their socio-cultural existence, it becomes possible to create techniques and develop strategies for psychological assistance in the modern context of a post-industrial, multicultural society.

The lecture will explore the possibilities for such application.
