April 23 is World Book and Copyright Day. How to choose a scholarly book you won't regret - a top list of books popular among our students?

When uploading books and articles to the MSUPE Electronic Library website, we always comply with copyright law and enter into an agreement with the author.

The website has three levels of content access: open access, restricted access (only after authorization on the site), and local network access. The author decides which access level a book will have.

Our students and staff can read works available on the local network through the MSUPE Electronic Library website, including dissertations, via the MSUPE Cloud Service. For instructions on how to do this, please see the guide.

How to choose a scholarly book so you don't regret reading it?

First - consult your academic supervisor. They will certainly recommend scholars who write on your topic of interest. Then pay attention to which works these scholars cite in their own writings.

When searching independently, always pay attention to the author. Who they are, where they work, their field of research, and how their works are cited. If the author is contemporary, you can check if they have a profile in RSCI or Scopus.

Examine the book's abstract, table of contents, introduction, and conclusion. Also, any scholarly work will necessarily include a bibliography of other scholars' works that the author references.

After this, you can assess the book's relevance to you and decide whether to read it.
