Metaphorical Associative Cards (MAC) have long earned a prominent place in the toolkit of psychologists.
MAC cards are used in various therapeutic approaches (in Gestalt, art, existential therapy, etc.) and for a wide spectrum of client requests and tasks.
MAC is a rewarding technique for self-discovery, personal growth, overcoming deficits, and finding resources. Currently, this method is experiencing the temptation of popularity. Dozens (if not hundreds) of variants of author's MAC decks are sold. They are used by a wide range of specialists, not just psychologists, because clients find MAC cards engaging.
There is a certain paradox inherent in the attitude towards metaphorical associative cards: it is the associations that push us to perceive the cards as a conduit for the mystical! MAC cards are about projective techniques that work productively in the hands of specialists. And our MSUPE urges you to strictly adhere to a course of professionalism!
And here it is: The Faculty of Advanced Training of MSUPE invites students to the professional development course "The Method of Metaphorical Associative Cards in Individual and Group Counseling."
We will briefly outline the program's content on a modular basis (as it is structured):
The first module details the principles and schemas for applying the MAC method in counseling—both individual and group. You will become familiar with the structure of a MAC session, learn the nuances, and practice formulating therapeutic questions.
The second module is dedicated to the practice of using MAC in working with various client requests: destructive emotions, psychosomatic problems, women's issues, coaching, and financial requests.
The third module covers the specifics of working with different types of clients: children, spouses, partners. The fourth module teaches how to combine the MAC method with other psychotherapeutic techniques: meditative, art, and fairy tale therapy.
What will you ultimately learn?
The program provides the necessary level of training for psychologists in conducting psychological counseling for clients using the method of associative metaphorical cards.

The program was prepared by a teaching tandem, which includes Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, E.M. Semyonova, and practical psychologist, psychology teacher, business trainer, Yu.S. Bolgova. The program was developed using the most current literature, primarily from 2024.
