The project brings together educational, cultural, and health initiatives that help maintain the quality of life and social activity of older adults.
Under an agreement with the Moscow Department of Labor and Social Protection, the university is implementing a series of sessions titled "Gymnastics for the Mind," developed using the principles of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST). The program is designed to overcome cognitive decline and preserve intellectual activity, foster a positive mindset, and maintain engagement in social interaction.
Moscow State University of Psychology and Education makes a significant contribution to the development of the psychological assistance system for the elderly. The university conducts systematic scientific and methodological work on integrating CST into Russian practice, developing standards for its application, and researching the program's effectiveness. MSUPE has published a Russian-language methodological guide for CST facilitators, as well as developed a professional development program for specialists using this approach in their work with the elderly.
The first group of participants will start in October 2025. Any citizen residing in Moscow who has reached the age of 55 for women and 60 for men, as well as recipients of early old-age insurance pensions or long-service pensions, regardless of age, can participate in the program. Sessions will be held weekly at MSUPE. Participants of the "Moscow Longevity" project can enroll in the course via the mos.ru portal.
