On November 17, marking the 129th anniversary of the birth of Lev Semyonovich Vygotsky, the first meeting of the Cultural-Historical Psychology Professors' Club was held at Moscow State University of Psychology and Education (MSUPE). This club is a special space designed to foster dialogue between representatives of different generations within the scientific school founded on the traditions of cultural-historical psychology.
The club is conceived as a professional community aimed at strengthening and preserving the scientific school of MSUPE, and positioning the university as a guardian and transmitter of the cultural-historical and activity theory psychology tradition. This is achieved through direct and informal communication between representatives of different generations of the C&H scientific school and promising young researchers.
Its key task is to create a space for reflecting upon and transmitting the tradition of cultural-historical psychology, and for intellectual mentoring.
Club members include professors and leading scientists from MSUPE, respected scholars from other universities who belong to the C&H tradition, scientists, experts, figures in science and culture, representatives of the business community associated with the C&H tradition, and young scientists—postgraduates and master's students.
The first club meeting featured a presentation of its mission and format, a discussion of the meeting plan, as well as an exploration of under-researched aspects of L.S. Vygotsky's legacy and modern interpretations of his texts.
