On February 14, at the Moscow Animation Museum, students from the Faculty of Information Technologies at MSUPE, specializing in "Film and Television Directing," entered the chronotope of the history and prehistory of Soyuzmultfilm.

Through kinescopes, cinematographs, and magic lanterns, the students ended up in a "Disney garage" for a master class by Kirill Polikarpov, where they learned about how celluloid animation is created – a unique art that few people master nowadays. However, at the Animation Museum, films are made using this technique without computers or Adobe After Effects.

The Moscow Animation Museum is the first international animation museum in Russia. It was opened in 2006 by staff of the Soyuzmultfilm film studio. The collection of exhibits is connected with the history of animation development in Russia and abroad. On the walls are sketches of the Lion Cub, the Tortoise, the Troubadour and the Bremen Town Musicians band, the desk of Svetozar Rusakov, who drew "Nu, Pogodi!" (Well, Just You Wait!).

The museum's creation was based on the legacy of Leonid Shvartsman – the creator of the images of Cheburashka, Gena, the residents of Prostokvashino, the 38 parrots, little monkeys, etc. The name Leonid Aronovich is known to animation lovers worldwide, which makes it even sadder that in our country, the artist's name is not even known to all directors. Leonid Shvartsman lived to be 102 years old and drew until the very end – the characters from his latest sketches are presented in the exposition of the Museum, which now bears his name.

We thank Larisa Vyborgova and the museum staff for the opportunity to go on such an interesting and informative excursion and hope for further cooperation!
