The editorial board of the journal "Social Sciences and Childhood" (Sotsial'nye Nauki i Detstvo) announces a call for papers for the 2026 issues, dedicated to the study of the phenomena of childhood.

The key thematic focus is the psychological portrait of contemporary children and adolescents and the conditions of their subjective well-being.

We invite researchers, practitioners, and specialists in the fields of psychology, pedagogy, sociology, law, and related disciplines to submit the results of their scientific research, practical developments, and analytical reviews in the following thematic areas, aligned with the journal's sections:

  • General Psychology: History and general principles of psychological research on childhood; methods, theoretical and analytical reviews; analysis of international research, statistical data, and monitoring in the field of childhood.
  • Pedagogy and Educational Psychology: Psychological support for learners, including particularly vulnerable categories; analysis of problems and solutions in education; study of the educational needs of specialists working in the child protection system. Training candidates in schools for prospective adoptive parents for taking into their families categories of orphans in need of placement.

  • Developmental Psychology: Psychological portrait of contemporary children and adolescents considering various socio-demographic characteristics. Risk and resilience factors; conditions conducive to or hindering the positive development, self-realization, and well-being of children and adolescents; typologies of individual mental development. Support for foster families caring for different categories of orphans.
  • Safety and Law: Child well-being. Scientific substantiation of measures to restrict/terminate parental rights, removal of a child when their life or health is threatened; support technologies for minors who have suffered from violence, abuse, or witnessed crimes; re-socialization of delinquent adolescents; training of specialists in the field of child protection; psychological analysis of legal and regulatory acts in the field of childhood.
  • Scientific Life: Reviews of conferences, webinars, round tables; reviews of monographs and textbooks; reviews of dissertation research; anniversary materials and discussions on current issues in "childhood studies."

Young researchers, including Master's students, are given the opportunity to publish their scientific results – both theoretical and empirical – provided they meet the journal's thematic focus and requirements.

The editorial board expresses its sincere gratitude to authors and readers for their trust and invites all interested specialists to participate in shaping the scientific discourse on the child as a full-fledged subject of social life.

We welcome articles that combine theoretical depth and practical significance, as well as those reflecting an interdisciplinary approach to the study of childhood.
