Self-Harm Behavior: Discussion at the "Acme" Discussion Club – April 24
We invite you to the next meeting of the "Acme" Discussion Club, which will take place online on April 24 at 7:00 PM. The topic of the session is: "Self-Harm Behavior: Specifics of the Phenomenon and Correction in Psychotherapeutic Practice."
The presentation will be delivered by Irina Shkalikova, a graduate of the Bachelor's program at the Institute of Experimental Psychology, MSUPE, and a Master's student at the Faculty of Psychotherapy and Psychological Counseling at the Moscow Institute of Psychotherapy (MIP).
Self-harm behavior (self-harm) is an extremely common problem among adolescents and young people, and it is also frequently encountered in psychotherapeutic practice. It is important for a psychologist not only to know methods of correcting auto-destructive behavior but also to understand the reasons for its emergence and persistence. The Club meeting will be dedicated to discussing:
- Key features of self-harm behavior
- Causes of its occurrence
- Personality characteristics of people prone to self-harm and its relationship with cognitive errors and emotional schemas
- Directions for correcting self-harm behavior
