MSUPE Launches Large-Scale Project "Let's Play!": June 1-7
Moscow State University of Psychology and Education (MSUPE) is launching a large-scale project "Let's Play!" (Idem Igrat!) , timed to coincide with the Year of Preschool Education, declared by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
The main goal of the project is to highlight the importance of play as the leading factor in the mental, emotional, and social development of modern children.
On the first day of summer, June 1, Children's Day, the project for families with preschool children – "Let's Play!" – will begin. The project aims to restore the natural play environment by organizing a series of open events in Moscow's parks and gardens under a single brand. The games are conducted by student volunteers who have undergone special training under a program developed by educational psychologists at MSUPE.
Main objectives of the project:
- Increase the social significance of play in child development.
- Expand practices of live child-adult interaction.
- Test formats for organizing an urban play environment.
Rector of MSUPE Arkady Aronovich Margolis noted:
"Russian psychology, based on the ideas of L.S. Vygotsky, clearly defines: play is not an addition to a preschooler's education, but its foundation. It creates a zone of proximal development and serves as the main tool for understanding the world and oneself. Through play, a child masters social roles and meanings, learns to negotiate with others and control their behavior. The main task of the 'Let's Play!' project is to create conditions for genuine, rich, and developmental play for preschool children. By supporting children's play, we are investing in a future generation of thoughtful, creative, and socially active individuals."
The project launch will take place during the first week of summer and will occur simultaneously at 8 venues in Moscow:
- June 1 – Moscow Zoo
- June 1 – Vorontsovsky Park
- June 3 – Presnensky Children's Park
- June 4 – Park of the December Uprising
- June 5 – Rublevo Student Center
- June 6 – Krasnogvardeiskie Ponds
- June 7 – VDNKh, Pavilion No. 44
The event program includes favorite games of several generations: from traditional folk, folklore, and role-playing games to games with rules – "Elastic Band," "Little Stream," and others.
Why is it worth attending?
- Time together. Play is a great way to spend time with your child, understand them better, and strengthen family bonds.
- Development through fun. Joint games develop communication skills, imagination, dexterity, and the ability to work in a team.
- Nostalgia for adults. Remember your childhood and share your favorite games with your children!
- New acquaintances. Children and parents can connect with neighbors, make friends, and create an atmosphere of good neighborliness.
To participate in the event, you must register on the website Byt-roditelem.rf.
For those who want to learn more about child development, get psychological advice, and attend lectures and master classes, MSUPE specialists invite you to an Open Day at the Child Psychological Center at 2a Shelepikhinskaya Embankment.
All week, leading specialists of the center are available for parents. Admission is free, and children are welcome.
Come with the whole family! Let's celebrate summer with the "Let's Play!" project.
