Meeting Held at the Chinese Embassy on Further Development of Bilateral Educational Cooperation Between China and Russia
On June 26, a ceremonial event was held at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Russian Federation to mark the cross-years of Chinese-Russian cooperation in the field of education. The event brought together key representatives of the educational and scientific communities of the two countries.
The official part was opened by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Russian Federation, Zhang Hanhui; State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Andrey Korneev; and Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Konstantin Mogilevsky. Welcoming addresses were delivered by the Rector of Peking University, Gao Song, and the Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Viktor Sadovnichy.
Among the invited guests were representatives of leading universities in Russia and China. Moscow State University of Psychology and Education (MSUPE) was represented at the event by the Head of the Department of International Relations, Elizaveta Evgenievna Mikhedova.
During the meeting, key priorities for the further development of bilateral educational cooperation were outlined. It was noted that currently, there are approximately 6,500 agreements in the field of science and education between Russian and Chinese educational and scientific organizations. In the coming years, the cooperation program will cover more than 200 joint initiatives aimed at training highly qualified personnel, strengthening interaction in general, vocational, and higher education, supporting young scientists, and promoting the Russian language in China and the Chinese language in Russia.
The official part was complemented by a photo exhibition "Cooperation between China and Russia in Education: Past and Present." More than 60 archival and contemporary photographs vividly demonstrate how educational ties between the two countries have developed over decades – from the joint work of Soviet and Chinese students in the 1950s to the implementation of modern university projects and youth exchanges.
Participation in an event of this level is an important step for MSUPE in the context of the strategic development of international partnership. The university is focused on expanding cooperation with Chinese educational organizations, exchanging scientific and pedagogical practices, and implementing joint educational programs, especially in the field of psychological and pedagogical support and the training of a new generation of specialists.
