MSUPE Expert Comments: Russia-1, NTV, Vechernyaya Moskva, and OTR
The "School of Trust" line has already helped avoid several negative incidents in educational institutions, Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov said in an exclusive interview with NTV: "The line is already working. Some people are just playing around, that is understandable, we are prepared for that, but nevertheless we see that there are already calls, and we have prevented several such cases. Therefore, I once again appeal to everyone: our 'School of Trust' line continues to work 24/7. It was created on the basis of Moscow State University of Psychology and Education, where professionals work. At this university, we train school psychologists and social educators, and our task is to identify these cases in time and prevent them from manifesting in the negative consequences we have seen".
Who among us has not at times felt such pressure that one desperately needs to speak out, complain about one's life, or simply whine? Most often, the function of a "shoulder to cry on" falls to family members and friends, but recently the paid service of "whining" has been gaining popularity. "Crying on someone's shoulder is not a pathology or a weakness, but one of the ways of emotional regulation that a person chooses consciously or unconsciously", Yulia Kochetova, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Head of the Department of Developmental Psychology named after Professor L.F. Obukhova, Faculty of Educational Psychology, MSUPE, told KP.RU.
Vechernyaya Moskva: Social media is discussing a story — a girl posted a correspondence with a guy for public discussion. He suggested they move in together but presented her with a bill for living together. The young people had been dating for four months. When the young man suggested they live together, the girl nearly went mad with happiness. But then the guy asked for 35,000 rubles a month for living expenses and set a fine of 1,500 rubles for unwashed dishes. Dmitry Deulin, Dean of the Faculty of Extreme Psychology, MSUPE, shared his point of view on this situation.
Ministry of Education of Russia: About 1,000 inquiries have been received on the "School of Trust" psychological assistance line since its launch. "The line has already received the first signals about situations requiring not only psychological counselling but also further organization of assistance. These cases were taken into work; children and parents received the necessary support in difficult circumstances, including those related to problematic situations in relationships between participants in educational relations at school. It is particularly indicative that more than 40% of substantive inquiries concern academic issues. This confirms the importance of a separate, clear, and accessible channel where one can turn when a problem has just arisen and can still be resolved before it escalates", commented Anna Ermolaeva, Deputy Head of the Federal Coordination Center for Ensuring the Development of Psychological and Pedagogical Assistance in the Education System of the Russian Federation at MSUPE.
After the age of 60, a working person often faces a choice — to maintain the previous workload or to leave. At least, these are the two options usually offered by standard employment practice. But real professional life is more complex. A study of educators conducted at MSUPE shows that interest in the profession can remain high, while the format of work and the necessary support require revision with age. Anna Shvedovskaya, Associate Professor at the Department of Developmental Psychology named after Professor L.F. Obukhova, Faculty of Educational Psychology, MSUPE, Deputy Head for Scientific Work of the Scientific and Practical Center for Gerontopsychology, and Valery Fedorov, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Social Psychology of Development, Faculty of Social Psychology, MSUPE, told "Vesti Obrazovaniya" about what professional resources are preserved after 60 and what conditions allow them to be used.
Who lights up "fake stars" and for what purpose? Stanislav Nikulin, Associate Professor at the Department of Theoretical Foundations of Social Psychology, Faculty of Social Psychology, MSUPE, explained to "Arguments of the Week" that adolescents actively adopt behavioural patterns popular in a group. Trash streams, due to the large number of likes, are "defined by the adolescent as socially approved and popular in the community". As a result, the child's psyche absorbs deviant behavioural models. Add to this the accessibility: to become a "star," one does not need to study, work, or have talent. A phone and the internet are enough. An ideal message for an adolescent who sees no other guidelines.
When love gets in the way of living... On OTR, they discussed hyperprotection. This is when parents not only love and worry but try to control literally every step, even if the child has long grown up. And what is dangerous about such a parenting model? And where is the line between love and harmful overprotection? The topic was discussed with Olga Medvedeva, Head of the Emergency Response and Psychological Counselling Sector of the FCC MSUPE. Is it true that with each generation humanity is getting dumber? At the same time, modern youth easily solve everyday issues with the help of digital technologies. A quantum computer is on the horizon, genetic engineering is developing. Perhaps we are moving to a new stage of evolution, adapting to changing living conditions? And IQ as a method of assessment has simply become outdated? How and why the intelligence level of Earth's inhabitants is changing, KP investigated together with Dmitry Deulin, Dean of the Faculty of Extreme Psychology, MSUPE (pages 34–35).
Russia has introduced clinical recommendations for the treatment of disorders of sexual preference: fetishism, exhibitionism, voyeurism, paedophilia, and sadomasochism. Nikolay Dvoryanchikov, Dean of the Faculty of Legal Psychology, MSUPE, Professor, whose scientific works were taken into account when creating the recommendations, told Gazeta.ru that usually people come to a psychiatrist or psychotherapist with problems in the sexual sphere either at the insistence of a partner or because of concomitant problems: anxiety, depression, feelings of guilt or shame.
Mushroom picking is not just a hobby. It is a real addiction, which neurobiologists have explained. It is all about dopamine — a neurotransmitter that creates the anticipation of reward and motivates action. Studies show that its level goes off the charts when the chances of success are 50/50. That is why a mushroom picker cannot stop — they do not know where and when they will find the next mushroom. Plus the forest smells and sounds. Cortisol levels decrease, anxiety goes away, and a state of calm appears. Yulia Kochetova, Head of the Department of Developmental Psychology named after Professor L.F. Obukhova, Faculty of Educational Psychology, MSUPE, spoke about how "quiet hunting" heals the nerves on "Utro Rossii" (timestamp 10:10).
