On October 22 and 29, the Scientific and Practical Center of Gerontopsychology at MSUPE hosted two meetings from the "All Ages Surrender to AI" series, dedicated to the practical use of artificial intelligence by older adults. Participants were introduced to the capabilities of modern neural networks and tried applying them to solve everyday tasks.

The host of the master classes, Vladimir Yuryevich Kuznetsov, a specialist with many years of experience in information technology, explained in simple terms what artificial intelligence is, how large language models work, and why their answers are not always correct.

At the first meeting, participants were introduced to AI assistants and learned how to formulate prompts for them. Using examples of greetings, letters, and image generation, they saw how a neural network performs tasks and why it is sometimes necessary to refine the initial request several times to achieve a good result.

The second meeting was dedicated to more independent work with AI. Participants analyzed ways to use neural networks in everyday life: for finding and explaining information, making plans, and solving household and creative tasks. Special attention was paid to verifying artificial intelligence responses and the rules for the safe use of such services.

"When a person learns to use artificial intelligence, they are not just mastering another computer program. They have to formulate questions, analyze the answers, notice mistakes, and search for new solutions. This in itself is intellectual work. And what is especially important, this learning has a clear practical goal: the person gains a tool that helps them be more independent in everyday life," noted Vladimir Kuznetsov.

"I asked the host how difficult it is to formulate a prompt for artificial intelligence? And I was pleasantly surprised by the simplicity of using AI, because the answer was: 'Just write what you are interested in...' I did not think it was that simple", wondered one of the class participants.

The host also shared a simple tip for those just starting to get acquainted with neural networks. It is not necessary to come up with a complex prompt right away. You can start with a standard question, for example: "Explain in simple terms what a QR code is and how to use it." If the answer seems complicated, ask: "Explain it even more simply, using a specific example." The ability to clarify questions is one of the most useful skills when working with AI.

The master classes "All Ages Surrender to AI" have already been held in the Moscow Longevity Centers and the Center of Gerontopsychology at MSUPE. The new format of two meetings allowed more time to be allocated for practical work.

To be continued

Continuing the development of this area, a series of four master classes will be launched at the Center of Gerontopsychology at MSUPE starting on November 18. The classes will begin at the following address: Moscow, 18/3 Zorge St., Room 104.

This is a rare opportunity for participants to immerse themselves more deeply in the world of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and devote more time to practicing the use of AI.

Mastering new digital tools can become not only a way to solve everyday tasks but also an additional opportunity for intellectual activity, creativity, and communication.
