All students enrolled in full-time programs at universities located in Moscow are eligible to obtain a Moscow Student ID Card (studencheskaya karta moskvicha). The primary advantage of the Moscow Student ID Card is discounted travel on public transport (metro, buses, commuter trains). Furthermore, the card functions as a full-fledged bank card with free servicing, provides discounts at numerous stores and establishments in Moscow and the Moscow Region, and allows for quick and convenient medical appointments using information kiosks in clinics.

Before applying for the Moscow Student ID Card, please verify your inclusion in the unified register of students and postgraduate students via the link. If you cannot find your name in the register, please contact your faculty.

For citizens of the Russian Federation:

You can apply for the Moscow Student ID Card on the mos.ru portal via the link:

  • Step 1. Provide the data of your passport or other identity document, your registration address, select your university and year of study, and attach a photograph in JPEG format. Select a "My Documents" center where it is convenient for you to receive the card.
  • Step 2. Once the card is ready, a corresponding notification will appear in your personal account on the mos.ru portal, in the "Notification Center" section. The Moscow Student ID Card will be produced within 30 days after document submission.
  • Step 3. Collect the card at the chosen "My Documents" center. You will need the application number for the card issuance and your passport or other identity document.

For non-citizens of the Russian Federation or stateless persons:

  • Step 1. Submit an application at any "My Documents" center. You will need one of the following documents: a passport of a foreign citizen or another document recognized as identity proof under an international treaty. You can bring your own photograph (3x4 cm format) or be photographed free of charge at the "My Documents" center.
  • Step 2. The Moscow Student ID Card will be ready within 30 days after document submission.
  • Step 3. Collect the card at the same "My Documents" center where you applied for it. For this, you will need the detachable stub of the application for card issuance and your passport or other identity document.

The Moscow Student ID Card is subject to re-issuance in the following situations:

  • if your place of study or educational program has changed (e.g., you completed a Bachelor's degree and enrolled in a Master's program);
  • if you changed your passport due to a change of surname, first name, or patronymic (please remember to provide the University with a copy of your new passport to update your information in the student register);
  • if the card's validity period has expired (in this case, an application for re-issuance can be submitted one month before the card's expiration date).
