On November 21 and 22, the international scientific-practical conference "Ethnopsychology: Theory and Practice" was held at Moscow State University of Psychology and Education (MSUPE) in a hybrid format (in-person and online). The conference was organized by the Department of Ethnopsychology and Psychological Problems of Multicultural Education at MSUPE.
The main theme of this year's conference was "Intercultural Communication in Professional Interaction."
Over 300 participants from numerous Russian cities—including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Stavropol, Magas, Ufa, and Kaliningrad—as well as from countries such as Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Serbia, and the UAE, took part in the two-day event. The program featured six sections, three round tables, and nine master classes. More than 100 presenters, including scientists and practitioners, discussed theoretical, methodological, and practical aspects of the psychology of intercultural communication in fields such as education, healthcare, counseling, business, and sports. Significant attention was paid to issues of sociocultural adaptation and psychological assistance for migrants, including those within educational institutions.
Throughout the conference, a personal exhibition titled "Patterns of Memory. Tradition as a Mirror of the Soul" by Aygün Mikhaylova, a graduate of the Department of Ethnopsychology, an artist and ethnopsychologist, was on display in the foyer. Her paintings combine ethnocultural motifs and psychology, serving as a bridge between modern psychology and the sacred space of traditional culture.
The conference's rich program, enthusiastic feedback from participants, and the intensive professional and truly intercultural and interdisciplinary communication over the two days will serve as a starting point for new research and practical developments in the field of ethnopsychology in Russia and many other countries.
The conference program can be found on the website. Current information about the conference proceedings and the abstract collection are also available there.
