Intercultural Education: Ethno-Psychologists from MSUPE Presented Their Work Experience at an International UNESCO Chair Seminar at MPGU

On December 8, representatives of the Department of Ethnopsychology and Psychological Problems of Multicultural Education at MSUPE participated in the XVII International Scientific-Practical Seminar "Dialogue of Civilizations and Intercultural Cooperation". The seminar was organized by the UNESCO Chair "International (Multicultural) Education and Integration of Migrants" at Moscow Pedagogical State University (MPGU). Within the framework of the expert session "Intercultural Education: Common Approaches and Regional Aspects," the ethno-psychologists shared their experience in training psychologists and educators to work in a multicultural environment.

Olga Pavlova, Ph.D. in Education, Associate Professor, and Head of the Department of Ethnopsychology and Psychological Problems of Multicultural Education, spoke about programs for training psychologists to work in a multicultural environment. The ecosystem of the Department of Ethnopsychology at MSUPE includes various forms of academic and extracurricular work that foster the development of intercultural sensitivity, interest, and respect for cultural diversity. Under special conditions, professional skills are formed, the application of which helps to account for cultural context during psychological counseling.

Yulia Dzuad, Ph.D. in Philosophy, Associate Professor at Moscow City Pedagogical University and a graduate of the Master's program "Practical Ethnopsychology" (MSUPE), shared her experience in teaching university elective courses that develop the intercultural competence of future teachers – "Great Books" and "Cultural Codes."

Close cooperation with experts from the UNESCO Chair at MPGU and participation in joint projects on the socio-cultural adaptation of underage foreign nationals in the Russian educational environment is a crucial area of activity for the Department of Ethnopsychology at MSUPE.
